Family Activities

Geocaching is a new spin on an ageless passion - treasure hunting! Zippel Bay and Franz Jevne State Parks are participants in the Minnesota State Parks Geocaching Wildlife Safari. Bring your own GPS, or purchase one at a local store. This fun activity gets the family exploring off the beaten path. Once you find the cache, sign the logbook. If there's treasure you can take it, as long as you replace it with something else. When you get home, log on to geocaching.com and share your experience. Timber Mill Community Park is a great place for families who love to play. Located on the east side of Baudette on Hwy 11, Timber Mill boasts a proud collection of playgrounds, two baseball fields, a half-mile walk/run track around the park, and the only skateboard park in town. There are plenty of picnic tables, a campground and public access into the Rainy River.

Bring your bikes and explore Baudette on the bike path. From Timber Mill, follow the path west into town. Get your picture taken next to Willie, then ride through Bay Front Park and Peace Park along the Baudette Bay and Rainy River. Stop in town to pick up the newspaper, some groceries, and a couple of special souvenirs.

Construction is currently underway to take the bike path all the way out to Lake of the Woods School. Sign up for our Lake of the Woods newsletter to learn more.
