Hunting
Bow hunters can get a jump start on the deer hunting season as early as mid-September. For those with firearms, the season begins the first part of November. Muzzle loaders have a brief window of opportunity at the beginning of December - but hurry, because the entire deer season is finished by mid-December.The hunting season for geese and waterfowl such as ducks and ruffed grouse kicks off in early September and remains open until late October.
If you're looking for some big game, Lake of the Woods offers over 1,500 acres of state land, nearly all of which is open and available for hunting. Bear season begins September 1st and runs through mid-October.
